WALLACE and Gromit are proving to be models of inspiration for students at a new school club.
Darlington School of Mathematics and Science pupils have signed up for an after-school animation society that will see them creating plastercine models to rival Aardman Studios as they make their own stop motion movies.
Club co-ordinator and director Kayleigh Adams said: “Most of the students have never done anything like this before.
“They will be using modelling materials, cameras and film editing software which will develop a host of skills while having fun.”
Club members will be given the opportunity to write scripts, story-board the movie and create their own characters.
They will use the painstaking stop-motion video animation, which they will then be able to edit, voice-over and select music for, creating an entertaining package for the screen.
Student Rebecca Parkinson, 15, who plans to take a media course at college, said: “I love watching animation but a lot of movies nowadays rely on computer generated imagery.
“I much prefer the stop frame animation which involves making models as the characters have more personality.”
