A BUSY road that was closed to traffic for more than eight months for bridge works has now reopened.
Thompson Street East, in Darlington, was closed during work by Birse Rail, on behalf of Network Rail, to replace a bridge on the road across the railway line.
Some minor works still need to be completed on the bridge in the coming weeks, but the road has been reopened to traffic.
The Arriva bus service number six has returned to its original route, after being diverted during the bridge closure.
A spokeswoman for Darlington Borough Council said the authority would like to thank residents and drivers for their patience during the construction work.
