A SOCIAL club for people with learning disabilities has benefited from £200 after Asda shoppers got behind the cause.
The Mencap Gateway Social Club, which meets twice-weekly at its base in Harrowgate Hill, Darlington, won the most tokens as part of Asda’s community life programme where shoppers deposit a token to support a local cause.
Tom Stebbings, chairman of the Gateway club, said the money would be used to buy new games and music for the group which relies purely on donations and volunteers.
