A RUGBY CLUB is being driven forward thanks to a generous sponsorship deal with a luxury car company.

Representatives from Darlington’s Mowden Park RFC will drive around in style after BMW donated vehicles to help them with their community work.

As part of a national initiative, BMW– the official vehicle partner for the Rugby Football Union – has encouraged local dealerships to become more involved with rugby clubs in their communities.

The Cooper Durham BMW dealership donated two cars – a three series and a five series – to the club.

Club coach Danny Brown said: “The vehicles are covered in our logo and will be used to take rugby into the community.

“They will make things a lot easier for us and will make us more identifiable, acting as a showpiece for us in the community. When people see our cars, they will be as impressed as we are with them.

“This club has aspirations and between us and such a prestigious brand, we can drive things forward. We know what we have to do and it is crucial to have this kind of support from the local community and businesses.”

Ross Jameson, from Cooper Durham, said: “It is important for businesses like ours to work with teams like Mowden Park. It’s also a bit personal for me as I used to wear a Mowden Park shirt myself.”

As well as donating the vehicles to the team, BMW will also offer Mowden Park supporters the chance to win a BMW six series for the weekend at the last game of the season and will run regular raffles.
