A CHARITY fundraiser went to hair-raising lengths to raise money for a national cancer charity.
Natalie Hutchinson, from Darlington, had her hair shaved off at a charity fundraising evening at Hogans, in Victoria Road, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
She has so fair raised £970 for the charity, which is almost double her original target of £500.
The 31-year-old said: “It was absolutely fantastic and the support from everyone was unreal.
“About ten minutes before I had my hair shaved I got really nervous but when everybody stood up and started cheering for me it was amazing.
“I want to say a big thank you for everyone who helped me on the night, including Marcia Burnside who shaved my hair for me - I couldn’t have done it without them.
“I wanted to fundraise for Macmillan because my grandfather died from cancer and my step-father has it at the moment so it is a cause close to me.”
Her friend, Dean Bates, from Darlington, also had his chest waxed during the evening to help raise funds.
