A MAN appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (December 10) charged with theft, possessing a class B drug and possessing a bladed article in a public place.
Adrian Paul Raper, of Station Road, Darlington, admitted stealing goods and cash to the value of £800 between July 1 and August 30.
The 25-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing amphetamine on November 23 and three charges of possessing bladed articles in public - a large kitchen knife in North Road, Darlington, on October 31, a kitchen knife at Duke Street, Darlington, on November 20, and a craft knife at Parkgate, Darlington, on November 23.
Magistrates sentenced Raper to 16 weeks in custody, but suspended it for 12 months. During this time he will be supervised by the probation service.
