AN award winning dairy has picked up another prestigious accolade within weeks of being named the Soil Association Organic Dairy of the Year.
Acorn Dairy, which operates out of Archdeacon Newton, Darlington and Spennithorne, near Leyburn has been awarded the Good Dairy Award by Compassion in World Farming, the international welfare campaign group.
It business received the Soil Association Organic Dairy of the Year title last month.
The dairy is run by siblings Caroline and Graham Tweddle and their father Gordon, who decided to switch to organic methods over a decade ago.
Miss Tweddle said: “We are fervent believers in organic farming which goes hand in hand with nature.
"Our herd rewards us with milk which is tastier and much better for you than white water and the farm has become a haven for wildlife which we also enjoy.”
Acorn Dairy has built up a loyal following of 4,000 doorstep customers and supplies schools, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets across the North-East and North Yorkshire, including Waitrose and Morrisons.
