FLOWER club members presented a cheque for £500 to a charity at their most recent meeting.
Darlington Flower Club raised the funds for the British Heart Foundation’s appeal – Mending Broken Hearts.
The fundraising came as a result of the club’s open meeting in November, with chairwoman Jane Currie handing over a cheque to a charity representative at this month’s meeting.
The meeting was also a chance for members to practice their flower arranging skills, under the theme Christmas Fairy Tales.
The advanced class was won by Jane Currie, with Rita Whitehouse in second.
Julia Atkinson triumphed in the novice stakes, ahead of Marsha Hillary and Val Curry in second and third.
This was followed by a game of Chinese bingo, a quiz and the singing of the “12 days of Christmas”.
There is no meeting of the club in January.
