A SHOPPER was left with an unexpected bill this afternoon (November 2) after their vehicle became stuck under a supermarket barrier.
The wagon damaged its roof on the height restriction bar at Sainsburys, in Victoria Road, Darlington, about 3.30pm.
The incident caused a brief backlog of traffic on Victoria Road, with shop staff forced to open extra exits to keep vehicles moving.
The owner of the wagon, who was believed to have been shopping in the store, had to let down the vehicle’s tyres to allow it to pass under the barrier, and the route was cleared around 4pm.
