EGG THROWN: A Darlington man had an egg thrown at him as he walked home from work on Halloween (October 31). The 29-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, was pelted from a passing car in the Skerne Park area. He said: "The yolk is on the idiot that threw it, though, because I managed to deflect it away, so it smashed on their car. Serves them right."

CHRISTMAS FAIR: St Herbert's Church, in Yarm Road, Darlington, holds its Christmas fair on Saturday, November 10, from 1.30pm to 3pm. Admission free. Stalls include cakes, books, bric-a-brac and tombola. There will also be a raffle. Proceeds to church and church hall funds.

CABINET MEETS: Darlington Borough Council's cabinet meets at 5pm, on Tuesday (November 6), at 5pm. Members will discuss a new learning disability strategy for the borough.

GRIEF HELP: A service for those who have been recently bereaved will be held at Bondgate Methodist Church, in Darlington, at 10.30am, on Sunday, November 11. All are welcome.

CARS CRASH: Emergency services were called to a two-car collision on the A66, close to the Brick Train sculpture, in Darlington, at about 4.20pm, on Wednesday (October 31). The accident involved an Audi and a Vauxhall Vectra. No one was hurt.
