POLICE will be out in force this Halloween and Bonfire Night in a bid to crack down on underage drinking and antisocial behaviour.

Darlington Police and Darlington Borough Council's anti-social behaviour team are taking to the streets to help keep young people safe and tackle underage drinking on streets and parks across the borough as part of Operation Staysafe.

Leader of the council and cabinet member for community safety, Bill Dixon, said: “Hanging about on the streets or in parks late at night drinking can put young people at risk as they can become vulnerable – not something we want to see.

“It also causes concern and upset for many local people who worry about what is happening on their doorstep.”

Anyone suffering from anti-social behaviour should call the council’s antisocial behaviour team on 01325-346831 (office hours) or contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 for any on-going antisocial behaviour that requires a response.
