POLICE are still appealing for witnesses to a hit and run incident in Darlington which put a cyclist in hospital.

The 38-year-old cyclist was riding along the A67 Yarm Road, near Middleton St George on October 23 at around 6am when he was apparently hit by a vehicle which failed to stop.

He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough and was released the following day.

A Durham Police spokeswoman said that the cyclist is “making good progress”, adding: “The incident is still be investigated and we are appealing for anyone who saw a cyclist on the road from Yarm towards Teesside airport on Tuesday, October 23 to come forward if they haven’t already done so.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and ask for the roads policing unit.
