A HURWORTH woman who reached the national finals of a volunteering awards scheme is calling on local youngsters to enter the 2013 competition.
Lydia Burnside-Hughes, 21, made the 2012 final of the vInspired Overall Commitment to Volunteering’ category after becoming an ambassador for helping the elderly while she was studying at Northumbria University.
Nominations for the 2013 competition are open until November 2 and Miss Burnside-Hughes said she did not want young Darlington volunteers to miss out on the recognition they deserve.
Volunteers under the age of 25 can be nominated by visiting www.vInspired.com/nationalawards and the awards ceremony will take place at the Roundhouse in London in March 2013.
