POSSIBLE sightings of missing chef Claudia Lawrence have been reported from as far away as South Africa, it emerged yesterday.
Detectives have also been examining CCTV footage taken in London after another reported sighting.
Miss Lawrence vanished from her York home more than 100 days ago and, despite a huge police operation, her whereabouts are still unknown.
Many possible sightings have been reported through find claudia.co.uk, a website set up by Miss Lawrence’s father, Peter.
The last confirmed sighting of Miss Lawrence was on March 18, soon after she had finished her shift at York University’s Goodricke College.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0845-60-60-247 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
■ Last night’s BBC Crimewatch featured an update on the search for Miss Lawrence.
Presenter Rav Wilding said since the programme showed an appeal for information earlier this month, a key witness had come forward. He also said that while police do not believe Miss Lawrence had multiple partners at the time she went missing, her relationships remain key to her disappearance.
