A RECONSTRUCTION of the last-known movements of missing chef Claudia Lawrence has been filmed for the BBC’s Crimewatch programme.
The shoot, at Melrosegate Bridge, in York, recreated the moment a passing cyclist saw a woman fitting Claudia’s description standing with a mystery man.
The sighting was at 5.35am on March 18, the day she failed to turn up for work.
Filming began on Tuesday and continued yesterday, with presenter Rav Wilding following the route that Claudia regularly took to reach work at the University of York, from her home in Heworth Road.
An actress wore slim-fitting jeans, a white T-shirt, an overcoat and white trainers – the outfit worn by the woman fitting Claudia’s description on the morning of her disappearance.
She stood by railings outside a subpower station, chatting to the unknown man, who wore a dark hooded top, with the hood pulled over his head, concealing his face, and holding a lit cigarette in his left hand, echoing the cyclist’s description.
The Crimewatch report will be shown on BBC1, at 9pm on Tuesday, June 2.
Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information, but as yet nobody has come forward. Anyone who can help is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 0845-60-60-24-7, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
