A MOTORCYCLIST killed on the region’s roads at the weekend has been named.
Jerzy Tomczyk (CORR) was aged 29 and lived on Bradford Crescent, in Gilesgate, Durham City.
He suffered fatal injuries when his Honda motorbike collided with a Citroen Berlingo van on the Keverstone Bank section of the A688, at the junction with Burnt Houses Lane, near Cockfield, Teesdale, County Durham.
Mr Tomczyk, who is believed to have been Polish, was travelling east along the A688 when the van pulled out from the junction to turn right, heading towards Staindrop.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The incident happened shortly after 6pm on Friday (October 19).
The van driver, a 68-year-old man from Gainford, near Darlington, suffered shock but was otherwise unhurt.
Durham Police are investigating the crash. Any witnesses are asked to call the force’s collision investigation unit on 0191-3752159.
