Cockfield FC has made a great start to the 2012/13 Season. In our new bright orange and white strips we are sitting at 5th in the league table with 9 points, having played four, won 3 and lost 1. We also have 4 games to play to catch up with the league leaders Witton Park Rose & Crown who at the moment are at the top of the table with 17 points.

Our main goal scorers so far this season have been Tony Callaghan, Paul Dawes and Dale Dunn, but the whole team have been putting in a massive effort.

The reason for playing so few league games is that we are competing in the T. Waggot Cup, the Bishop Auckland Heart Foundation Cup and also the Durham County FA Sunday Cup. We are currently through to the second round of the T. Waggot Cup after playing Shildon Royal George in the first round in an interesting match that finished 3-3 and saw us win 1-3 on penalties, we are also through to the first round of the Heart Foundation Cup after beating Durham County Seniors 4 –2 in the preliminary round. In the Durham County FA Sunday Cup we have made it through three preliminary rounds beating Old Shotton Black Bull 6-1, Shildon Elm Road WMC 6-0 and South Shields The Bridge 3-0, we are now through to the first round (final 64).

If anyone is interested in coming and watching the lads we appreciate all the support, our next few games are all in the cups with us facing Coundon Foresters at home on the 28th October, then going away for the Heart Foundation Cup to Dubmire WMC on the 4th November and finally taking on Hartlepool Thorston Wanderers in the County Cup on the 11th November, if anyone would like to come and watch this match please see Sas or Andrew in the middle house or Michael Hallimond about a seat on the team bus.
