A CONMAN who lied about his employment to get loans to buy high-performance cars walked free today (Friday, October 19).
Sidney Hodgson, 58, told finance firms he had been working as a fitter for a window company for the last decade.
The lies enabled him to get credit for an Audi TT convertible worth £12,500 and a £13,700 Mercedes CLK.
Hodgson, of Stokesley Road, Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, admitted three charges of fraud at Teesside Crown Court.
He was given a 12-month community order with 180 hours of unpaid work and a four-week tagged curfew.
Judge Howard Crowson relaxed the curfew to 8pm to 7am so Hodgson could attend church on Saturday evenings.
