POLICE are urging away fans to be patient after the final whistle at this weekend’s derby game.
Magpies fans will be kept in the Stadium of Light after Sunday’s Premiership derby in Sunderland, while the home crowd disperses.
Turnstiles will open at 11.30am and fans will have access to the bars on levels one and three of the North Stand, where the new away end is.
Northumbria Police’s operations command officer, Chief Superintendent Steve Neill, said: “We’re asking for the fans to work with us and stay back in the North Stand for a short period of time after the game – this allows us time to clear the area at the bottom of the stand and for us to safely escort the Newcastle fans from the stadium.”
