CANDIDATES hoping to become the region’s first police commissioners are to go headto- head next week.
Hustings events ahead of November 15’s elections for the region’s first Police and Crime Commissioners are being organised by the North- East Women’s Network.
Candidates for the Northumbria post will attend a debate in Central Square, Newcastle, on Monday, from 1.30pm to 3pm.
Hustings chairwoman will be campaigning journalist and author Beatrix Campbell.
A Cleveland Police event will be held at the George Hardwick Foundation, Bishopton Lane, Stockton, on Wednesday, from 2pm to 3.30pm.
A Durham Police event will be held in Alington House Community Centre, North Bailey, Durham City, on Thursday, from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The chairwoman will be feminist and the co-founder of Justice for Women, Julie Bindel.
The North-East Women’s Network is asking all candidates to pledge to take action on women’s safety and take a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of violence against women and girls.
Entry to the debates is free.
