A MAN who was arrested after an accident which left an 11-year-old boy with serious head injuries will not face charges, police have said.
The 49-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of careless driving after a schoolboy riding his bike on Elemore Lane, Easington Lane, Wearside, was struck by a van on the morning of Monday, August 6.
The man, who has not been named, was due to answer bail on Tuesday.
Today (October 18), a Northumbria Police spokeswoman said he would face no further action over the incident.
The schoolboy was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, in a Great North Air Ambulance helicopter following the collision.
