FLATS left on the verge of collapse after flooding will be demolished next week.
The three-storey block at Spencer Court, Newburn, near Newcastle, will be taken down from Tuesday, October 23.
Newton-Aycliffe based developer Dunelm Homes said today (October 17) that insurers had given the go-ahead.
MGL Demolition Ltd, of Durham, will do the work.
A spokeswoman for Dunelm said the demolition would take about two weeks.
Residents, along those living in nearby properties, were evacuated in September after heavy rain led to flooding that washed away the ground surrounding Spencer Court’s foundations.
Problems with a nearby culvert are believed to have exacerbated the situation.
