THE director of a skip hire company stripped of its waste permits for flouting environmental rules has been arrested.
Raymond Shepherd, 58, from Albert Hill Skip Hire, in Darlington, was detained by police after allowing the business, found guilty of ten charges of operating without Environment Agency permits at its their Dodsworth Street and Whessoe Road bases between 2008 and 2010, to illegally continue processing waste.
Mr Shepherd, of West Musgrave Farm, was warned by police to refrain from working with controlled waste without valid Environment Agency permits after a five-week trial at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in August.
He was bailed to be sentenced, but officers, who had issued Shepherd with notices to stop working without permits, arrested him on the suspicion he had continued to trade in processing waste.
He is due to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this afternoon on charges of breaching his bail conditions.
