A COUPLE in their 60s have been left "extremely shocked" after they were tied up and robbed in their own home.

Six men forced their way into the property at Butterknowle, near Bishop Auckland, at about 8.50pm last night.

The man opened the door to the attackers and then the couple were tied up as the robbers stole cash and jewellery.

They were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital but later released.
