POLICE are warning people to be on their guard following several reports of a suspicious car around schools.

The small, dark car was spotted around schools in the Acklam, Tollesby and Saltersgill areas of Middlesbrough in the past week.

Cleveland Police is investigating, but said that at this point there were varying accounts and no confirmed offences.

A police spokeswoman said: “Our advice is that parents and carers should remind children and young people of the usual safety precautions, such as not engaging with strangers or getting into an unknown car.”

Anyone with specific information about any suspicious car should call police on 101.
