THREE hospice supporters have travelled to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the cause.

Richard Langdon, Graham Duncan and David Hardy flew out to Tanzania on Saturday.

Their trek to climb the 19,341ft of Africa’s highest peak is expected to last six days.

The group has already raised £20,000 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham City.

Before leaving the North-East, Mr Duncan, 31, said: “I’m really looking forward to the trek – it’s taken months of hard work to raise the funds, but I’m over the moon with the amount we’ve raised.

“St Cuthbert’s looked after my mum in her final days and I have always wanted to give something back for the care we received.”

The hospice provides free care for people with life-limiting illnesses in north Durham.
