TWO men have appeared in court charged with assaulting a man in Darlington.
The victim was left with facial fractures and a bleed on the brain, following the incident at the William Stead pub on Monday.
Michael Thompson, 36, of no fixed address, appeared before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe this morning.
David Christopher Slaven, 32, of Ventnor Road, Blackpool, appeared before the same court yesterday.
Both men are charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Mr Slaven was granted conditional bail by magistrates, but the Crown Prosecution Service appealed that decision. A judge sitting at Teesside Crown Court yesterday afternoon upheld the appeal and Mr Slaven was remanded in custody.
No application for bail was made for Mr Thompson and he was remanded in custody.
Both men are next due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday.
