A TOWN centre road has been closed tonight after a pedestrian was struck by a car.

The collision took place in Wycar, Bedale, North Yorkshire, at around 6.30pm.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the pedestrian’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The incident is the latest in a series of crashes in the market town.

Last week a car careered out of control at the junction of Firby Road, Sussex Street and Masham Road and went through a garden wall before hitting the front window of a sheltered housing complex.

No-one in the home was injured and the driver was taken to hospital for a check-up.

In September an 85-year-old Bedale man died at the same junction when his mobility scooter and a car collided.
