NORTH-EAST X Factor hopeful James Arthur has made it through the first live show on a night which saw judge Gary Barlow storm off stage.
The 24-year-old from Saltburn, east Cleveland, was the second singer to be told they had made it through to next week’s show.
The singer’s version of Kelly Clarkson's Stronger had divided opinion on Saturday night.
Louis Walsh said the 24-year-old from Saltburn was “amazing”, but the Take That star urged him to “retain his integrity” and said he missed Arthur's guitar and "edgy feel".
Rylan Clark and Carolynne Poole found themselves in the bottom two.
Despite Clark appearing to struggle with his song - One Night Only, Louis Walsh chose to take it to deadlock and it was Poole who was told she had received the fewest votes from the public.
This announcement prompted Barlow, who mentored the female singer, to stand up and walk off stage as the programme came to an end.
