A CHARITY which aims to promote the great outdoors to children and young adults is hoping to strike the right note with music fans.
WoodNRock Fest 2012 has been organised by Wood- NWheels, an organisation based in Hamsterley Forest which offers a number of activities, including mountain biking, orienteering and guided walks.
WoodNRock 2012 will be staged at Lowfields Farm, just outside Willington, during the weekend of October 19-21.
There will be camping, live bands, food and a bar onsite to cater for the festivalgoers.
Headliners for the Friday night are Church of Sin, while Saturday’s line-up is topped by Fable for the Curious.
The event has been organised in support of the Wood- NWheels Outdoor and Active Project. Organiser Martin Stout said: “At present, we are based in County Durham, where we run most of our activities.
Through the Outdoor and Active project we aim to take this wherever required throughout the North-East and open a regional training and activity centre.”
WoodNWheels, together with the Forestry Commission and Hamsterley Trailblazers, is creating a complete outdoor cycling experience in Hamsterley Forest, offering everything from bike hire to information and advice.
Mr Stout added: “Our aim is to engage with children and young adults and help them experience the great outdoors through structured activities which encourage them to exercise, eat well, stay healthy and take part in sporting or adventurous activities, hopefully as a lifelong passion.”
