PEOPLE in a former mining town are being urged to bid for a slice of £120,000 of public cash.
Stanley Area Action Partnership (AAP) is working with Stanley Town Council to give residents the chance to say how local budgets are spent for the second year running.
It’s Up 2 U will give organisations, schools, and community and voluntary groups in the Stanley area the opportunity to apply for funding of between £2,000 to £12,000 to deliver their project. Interested parties can submit forms to the Stanley AAP office on Front Street in the town centre.
AAP co-ordinator Daniel O’Brien said: “The overall aim is to help local people to have control over what happens in their area and give them a say on which projects funding is granted to.”
The deadline for forms is Friday November 9 and an event will be held on Saturday February 16 that will allow people to vote for the projects they think should be given the go-ahead.
