TWO museum visitors have created an exhibition inspired by Chinese art.

Stephen Livingstone and Bill Woods have worked together as artists and teachers for more than 20 years, and have introduced many young people to the collections of Asian art at the Oriental Museum, in Durham City.

Their exhibition, influenced by the art at the museum, opens there today.

Re:collection features Mr Livingstone’s drawings – panoramic mountainscapes – and Mr Woods’ hand-built pots, finely decorated with a metallic finish.

Museum curator Dr Craig Barclay said: “Bill and Stephen have brought school groups to the Oriental Museum for many years, and we have been delighted to showcase the work produced by these children in a number of exhibitions. It is wonderful at last to be able to share some of their work with our visitors.”

Re:collection runs until Sunday, December 16. The Oriental Museum is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and noon to 5pm at weekends. Admission is £1.50 adults, 75p for children and free for the over-60s, under-fives and students.
