A CAR driver was flown to hospital by air ambulance after a two-vehicle collision near Barnard Castle today.
The accident happened on the B6278 close to Low Park Wall Farm, Marwood around 4.20pm.
The driver of a blue Vauxhall Corsa, who was aged between 19 and 30-years-old, suffered serious head injuries.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said: “He was stabilised on scene by the medical crews before being flown to James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took just eight minutes.”
His condition on arrival at hospital was said to be ‘stable’.
The occupants of the other car were treated for shock.
