A DATE has been set for the resumption of an inquest into the death of a man in police custody.
Leonard McCourt, 44, described as a loving family man by relatives, died at Peterlee police station, in east Durham, an hour after being arrested during a disturbance in nearby Seaham on September 11, 2010.
The inquest, expected to last two weeks, will be held by coroner Andrew Tweddle in Crook Civic Centre from Tuesday, October 16.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission investigated the death and passed a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, but no criminal charges are being brought against any officer or staff in relation to the death.
Father-of-two Mr McCourt, who was arrested at his home in Ash Crescent, Seaham, was said to have no apparent health problems. A postmortem examination was inconclusive.
