YORKSHIRE boxer Nicola Adams today made history by becoming the first-ever Olympic woman boxing champion in front of an ecstatic crowd in London.
Adams, a one-time extra in soaps such as EastEnders and Coronation Street, produced a dominant display to beat a world champion from China.
The 29-year-old from Leeds punched the air with joy and flashed her trademark smile which delights her fans.
She said: "It's like a dream come true for me. I just wanted this all my life."
She added: "I'm just so happy and overwhelmed with joy right now."
