A 23-year-old man from Carthorpe has died after a Mitsubishi pick-up truck went out of control and hit a tree.
The incident happened on a country road near Thornton Steward, Leyburn, North Yorkshire at about 3.15am on Sunday morning.
The three occupants, all local men, were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, with serious injuries.
One of the passengers was then transferred to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he later died.
