A RECORD company apologised tonight after it appeared to announce Middlesbrough's Amelia Lily as the X Factor champion four days before the final votes are cast.
The HMV website offered fans the chance to pre-order the Amelia Lily X Factor 2011 Winner’s Single for £3.99 however no products were available for the other finalists Little Mix and Marcus Collins.
Versions of the winner’s single by all three finalists should have been available to pre-order from tomorrow morning with only orders for the eventual winner being processed.
A spokesman for HMV said: “It's just come to light that there was a technical issue uploading details of two of the artists, which meant that only Amelia Lily's details appeared. However, these have been temporarily removed so that all three finalists details will go up simultaneously on Wednesday morning.
“Once up, fans will be able to preorder the single by their prefered finalist but only orders for the eventual winner's single will be processed and charged for.
"This was due to an unforseen technical issue, and nothing further should be construed from it."
