POLICE have released the name of a teenage boy who died in a car crash last week.
Grant Robert Davison was killed after a Land Rover Defender travelling on the A66, near the Bowes Moor Hotel, Barnard Castle, left the carriageway and hit a dry stone wall just before 7pm last Friday.
Grant, 14, who was from The Hawthorns, in East Boldon, Tyneside, was confirmed dead at the scene.
The vehicle’s 18-year-old driver was treated in Darlington Memorial Hospital for shock, facial and back injuries and a 47-year-old female front-seat passenger was treated for head and chest injuries.
The silver Land Rover was driving on the westbound carriageway of the A66 when the collision occurred.
After passing the Bowes Moor Hotel, it crossed both lanes and left the nearside carriageway and collided with the wall.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicle shortly before the accident is asked to call police on 0191-375-2159.
