ONE of the region’s leading businessmen was found dead earlier today.
Gus Robinson MBE, who was 62, founded Hartlepool company Gus Robinson Developments in the early 1970s.
The construction, plumbing and electrical company went on to complete work in London and abroad and employs more than 100 people.
Mr Robinson, who lived in the Peterlee area of County Durham before moving back to Hartlepool, was also well known as a boxing promoter and he stood for the Conservative Party against Peter Mandelson in the 2001 General Election.
Company director Paul Twidale said: “It is with the deepest regret that we have to inform you that Mr Robinson has suddenly passed away earlier today.
“Unfortunately we do not have any further information at this present time.
“The company will be operating as usual although obviously the entire staff are devastated by this sad news.
“We would appreciate your understanding at this very difficult time.”
He leaves a wife, Judith, a son and three daughters.
