VISITORS AT Tenlands Care Centre Ferryhill, near Darlington, were in for a Halloween fright today.

Ghoulish themes decorated the entrance to the care home, run by Manager Karen Davison.

There were even pumpkin lanterns hanging on the tree outside the main reception area.

Spooky goings on included a competition to see which member of staff could be wrapped up and made into the most complete mummy in two minutes.

Bev’ Poulson, the Social Life Facilitator at Tenlands said: “Earlier on in the day we had children from Cleves Cross Primary School come over in their fancy dress outfits.

"They looked fantastic and made a big effort for our Halloween day.

“They competed for first, second and third place in the fancy dress.

“They enjoyed their time here and had cakes and juice with us and sang a couple of songs.

“We have loads going on today and our residents love the entertainment.

“Everyone is having a great time this afternoon. Relatives like to get involved in the work we do on these occasions.

“A singer called Danny Ocean is taking the microphone and he is really good.

“We booked him especially for our residents as he sings the kind of music they like to hear.

“We have raised £80 towards the residents fund. This enables us to run a raffle at Christmas for them and to buy things.

" It makes it all worthwhile.”

Visitor Mr. Wilson said: “We knew that they would be doing something very good.

“When they decide to throw a party here, it is a big day for everyone.”

Coincidentally the party tallied with moving on from Southern Cross ownership.

Manager, Karen Davison said; “We start a new phase with HC-ONE today and our occupancy levels are at maximum.

“We are driven to provide the best quality care at our disposal.”
