THOUSANDS are expected to descend on a North-East park tomorrow for a charity music and fireworks celebration.
Tickets are available “at the door” to see Mobo awardwinning rapper Tinchy Stryder and boy band Blue headline the first TFM Spooky Spectacular fireworks display in Darlington’s South Park.
Roads around the park will be closed from 4.30pm until 9pm and visitors are being asked to walk, use designated parking at Darlington Football Club or travel to the event by public transport to limit congestion in the town.
There is a limited amount of on-site disabled parking. Visitors wanting to use this must arrive by 5pm.
The event starts at 5.30pm, with TFM presenters going on stage at 6pm. Live music starts at 6.45pm, with X Factor finalist Amelia Lily Oliver, from Middlesbrough, opening the show in her first North- East performance since she failed to make through to the second live show.
Then at 8.15pm, there will be a 15-minute fireworks display.
All proceeds from the show will be donated to TFM’s Cash for Kids appeal, which helps disabled and disadvantaged children in the region.
Tim Monckton, of TFM, said: “We are so excited to be bringing A Spooky Spectacular to Darlington. Our listeners have been crying out for us to run a live music event in the region and we are delighted to be bringing Tinchy Stryder and Blue to Darlington.”
Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for children aged three to 15. Golden circle tickets are £17 and £15 respectively. Tickets can be bought at the door or by calling 01325-486555.
The following roads and most of their back lanes will be closed from 4.30pm to 9pm: Victoria Embankment, Bedford Street, Herbert Street, George Street, Rockingham Street, Greenwell Street, Roslyn Street, Chatsworth Terrace, Geneva Terrace, Clifton Road West Back, Roslyn Street and Greenwell Street.
