ADMINISTRATORS say they are unable to confirm if customers owed thousands of pounds by a train company will get their money back.

Accountancy firm RSM Tenon has confirmed that charter train company Cargo- D Ltd, which traded as Rail- Blue Charters, has stopped operating.

RSM Tenon, which was appointed as administrators to run the company earlier this month, is urging customers to complete a form stating how much they are owed.

Rail-Blue Charters was due to run a private excursion from the North-East, through Yorkshire and along the Settle Carlisle line to Cumbria, with tickets costing from £69 to £179, on September 9.

Advertisements placed in The Northern Echo in August were published in good faith.

However, customers never received their tickets. When they called customer services or checked the company website, they were told the trip had been cancelled because of a power problem and the unavailability of a kitchen car.

The company failed to give refunds and respond to queries.

Dozens of customers are believed to still be owed money.

The administrators said in a statement: “RSM Tenon is currently conducting an initial review of the business, with a view to selling assets for the benefit of creditors.

“No further services will be provided as the company has ceased to trade.

“At this stage RSM Tenon is unable to comment upon the likelihood or quantum of any potential dividend to unsecured creditors in relation to this matter.”

The administrator is urging customers who paid by credit card for tickets to obtain a refund from their card provider.

Others banks and debit card accounts could also provide refunds, the company said.

Customers can lodge a claim for a refund from the administrators by completing a proof of debt form available at the resoucres and reports page at rsmtenon.com/rail bluecharters The form should be sent, together with any supporting documents, to RSM Tenon, Highfield Court, Tollgate, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 3TZ.

Further statutory documents concerning the administration process will be sent to all known creditors.
