MORE than 6,000 homes were left without power for an hour and a half because of a fault on an underground power cable.

A spokeswoman for NEDL said the fault affected 6,361 homes in Middlesbrough.

It was reported at 7.01pm tonight, and by switching supplies around, power had been restored to all properties by 8.30pm.

The spokeswoman apologised to customers for the disruption, and said engineers are working to fix the high voltage cable fault.
