It’s tense in Boldon, but it looks like CA have done enough to hang on to their Durham Coast League crown.
Seaham Park went into the final round of matches knowing victory would give them a history- making first title, but in a restricted game Peterlee held them at bay with the Park picking up just ten points.
Boldon got past Easington after Ian Male (6-10) had run through their late batting to leave his team needing 101 – they achieved it despite losing seven wickets en route.
The 20 points Boldon earned meant it was all square at the top, and with both teams winning the same number of matches league officials tentatively indicated that it would be CA’s title because they had lost one game fewer than the Park – although stressing they needed to ratify that once the final match returns were received.
For Park, who had Peterlee on 66-5, one extra wicket would have saved them the heartache.
