TWO people have died following a car crash early this morning.
The eastbound A66 carriageway in Thornaby, Stockton remains closed after the single vehicle collision.
Police were called to reports of an overturned grey Toyota Corolla at Brewery Bank between the Mandale Triangle at about 5.45am this morning.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said it had been carrying a "number" of passengers and confirmed two had died. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
"Specialist search teams have just arrived at the scene of the collision in which two people died early this morning," she said. "They will assist Roads Policing Officers who are continuing their investigations in the Brewers Bank area of the A66.
"That stretch of road will remain closed for the time being."
