A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a 78-year-old foreign tourist was attacked near York Minster.
The South African victim was on holiday in York when he was allegedly hit on the head with a stone or cobble while out walking in the city on Friday evening.
He suffered a "serious" head injury and a hand injury, but they are not thought to be life threatening.
