A group of our pupils of Roseberry Sports and Community College in Chester-le-Street have won a national competiton. Bethan Oakes, Jessica Wright, Laura Lawson and Bethan Wray- won the Best Students'Award at the RBS Personal finance Education Awards for Schools.
The girls raised financial awareness amongst the college.They set up drop in sessions for KS3, mentoring across the school, They deliverd presenations and school assemelies.
The girls won laptops each, £1500 for the school and a trophy which was presented by Kevan Jones, MP for Durham.He said, " It is important to teach the personal financial education at an early stage and it's great to see Roseberry Sports and Community College students deliverit to their peers."
As their teacher I feel very proud of what they have acheived. The girls were incrediable with their approach in answering the very challegening questions they were faced with. i think its a a fantastic success to win a National Award. The pupils have shown that a North East school has shone amongst the Nation of schools and won.
