A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after his car crashed into the wall of a doctors surgery.

The car was embedded in the side of the Parkway Medical Centre, in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, shortly before 4pm today.

The man, who has not been named, but is believed to be in his 80s, was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough. His injuries are not known.

No-one else was hurt in the incident and the medical centre remained open as normal.

Police are investigating the incident and structural engineers have been called to assess the damage.
