A SOCIAL club steward who stole more than £10,000 from funds was today warned he faces a prison sentence.
David Jowsey admitted theft when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court for what was meant to be a three-day trial.
His barrister, Peter Sabiston, said the decision to change his plea followed lengthy legal discussions with the 49-year-old.
Jowsey was in charge of the Belle Vue Way Social Club in Hartlepool when the £10,851 went missing in March 2007.
Mr Sabiston said Jowsey has suffered "significant trauma" with the death of his partner and daughter in the last six years.
He told the court that he has also endured ill health, and asked for medical reports to be prepared before Jowsey is sentenced.
Recorder Ray Singh adjourned the case for reports and gave bail to Jowsey, of Wynstay Gardens, Hartlepool, until he returns.
The judge told him: "All sentencing options are available, including, if the court feels it is appropriate, custody."
