A CHARITY foundation set up by pop star Cheryl Cole is expected to raise thousands of pounds for work carried out by The Prince's Trust in the region.

The Cheryl Cole Foundation aims to help disadvantaged young people in the North-East through grants to the youth charity.

It recently launched a sale of some of Ms Cole's favourite clothes in conjunction with online retailer ASOS.

One outfit, a Philip Lim playsuit worn by the Newcastle-born star during her second year on The X Factor television show, has already attracted ten thousand bids alone.

The sale began on Monday, June 13 and ends at midnight tomorrow.

Two more designer outfits are now up for grabs including a Julien Macdonald chain mail dress worn for the 2008 X Factor Final Ms Cole said: "I am absolutely amazed at the amount of interest the clothes have had and cannot believe how generous people have been."

Speaking about the foundation's aims, she added: "I know from first-hand experience what it is like growing up in a tough neighbourhood in the North-East.

"But I also know that, with the right support, situations can change. I hope I can help young people from difficult backgrounds change their lives for the better."

All proceeds raised through the clothes auction will be matched by ASOS.

The dresses can be viewed on www.cherylcolefoundation.org and bidding can be done via marketplace.asos.com/cherylcolefoundation.
